Arrangements for Blood Tests

If you have been asked to attend for a blood test, there are several venues you can attend to have this done. The Bridgewater Medical Centre, Leigh Infirmary laboratory or Walk-in Centre. Before you decide where you wish to attend, it is essential that you have your blood test form that lists the tests required. If you have lost or misplaced your form, please contact the surgery and a replacement form will be issued to you.

The information below gives the venues, days/times and how to make an appointment:-

  • At Leigh Infirmary blood tests take place at the laboratory, Monday to Friday between 08:30 and 14:30. You do not need an appointment but you may have a long wait, especially if you turn up during a busy period. You will need to take your blood form with you.
  • At Bridgewater Medical Centre blood tests take place on Wednesday and Friday in the recovery room on the first floor of the building. It is on an appointment only basis and you can arrange this appointment by ringing the blood service and requesting an appointment at Bridgewater Medical Centre

    • You will need to take your blood form with you.

On the day of your appointment wait in the seating area on the first floor of the building until your name is called.

  • At Leigh Walk in Centre blood tests take place between 7am-9am Monday-Friday (excluding bank holidays.)
    • Telephone 01942 264000 (Monday – Sunday 09:00 - 19:00)
    • You will need to take your blood form with you.

Test Results

Investigation results (blood and urine) are usually available within five working days after the sample was sent off.

It is your responsibility to contact the surgery for your results. Please phone during the afternoon for test results.
